| Technology Limitations
Its hard work to make the Web easy! Because there is no standard way to program a Web site, the Easy Web Browser has to work hard behind the scenes to identify potential problems and fix them before they happen. We have spent hundreds of hours testing and programming solutions to problems.
Some NCI approved Web sites use frame-based or frame-busting technology that fight with our technology. Because of that, we need to exclude them from the CancerHelp Easy Web Browser. We will continue to explore ways to program the Easy Web Browser so that as many Web sites as possible can be included.
Some Web sites may open windows that need to be repositioned on the screen or may need to be closed with the close box or return button. Both can be done with your finger or the teathered stylus that we provide. The touchscreen stylus also helps access links that are in small print, close together or more difficult to reach with a finger.
There are also some limitations that come from using a touchscreen instead of a keyboard. These include the inability to register on certain sites and use e-mail from within the Easy Web Browser. However, because these are not common tasks for those performing cancer research, we do not feel this diminishes the overall value of the Easy Web Browser.
